Preface

0.1 What is Rashumon?
Rashumon is the first multi-lingual word-processor for the
Amiga computer. It supports multiple fonts (including
proportional spacing), 8 colors per document, which can be
selected from 4096 options. It has a Tablet Generator, and an
IFF support (exporting and, in the DTP version, importing as
well).

0.2 About this manual
This manual describes the basic operation of Rashumon.
Rashumon, being intuitive, requires only a brief fumble
through the manual before starting to operate it. Read
section 0.3 (if you have a Hard Disk) and then 0.4 (Getting
Started). Then, use the manual for specific topics you wish to
get deep into.
The manual is organized in chapters which are divided into
sections. For example: section 2.3 means chapter 2 section 3.
The manual was created using Rashumon DTP 1.2 on Amiga
1000 with 2.5MB.

0.3 Installing Rashumon in a Hard Disk
Rashumon comes with a utility that automatically does the
installing for you. To install Rashumon in your hard disk,
double-click the Install_HD icon.

0.4 Getting started
Rashumon is copy-protected by a Protection Plug. the plug
should be installed between the Parallel-Port and the printer
cable. When the plug is installed, you can run Rashumon safely,
backup it and easily run it from a hard disk.
To run Rashumon, simply double-click its icon. The program
will look for the 'rashumon' font, so make sure that it is in
the Fonts: directory. Also, make sure that the '.pref' files are
in the root directory.
The best way to try 'Rashumon' for the first time is to
execute a soft boot (Control-Right Amiga Key - Left Amiga
Key). After the Workbench screen appears, double-click the
disk's icon, and then the program's icon. The main screen will
then appear.

0.5 Typing your first document
Let's try to create a simple document and then save it as a
Rashumon file.

1. The default font in the beginning is 'rashumon 8'. Type
a few lines. You don't need to press RETURN at the end
of the line, unless you want to start a new paragraph.
Rashumon will automatically Word-Wrap the text you
have typed.

2. To save your first document on a data-disk or on your
Hard Drive, select the Save As menu-item from the File
menu; the File Requester will appear, allowing you to
choose the Drive, Drawer and File name of the file you
wish to save. After entering the relevant data, press
the 'OK' gadget and the document will be saved.
3. Before print your work, you must make sure that the
system-configuration is set to your printer. use the
Preferences tool to adjust the printer settings. The
way Rashumon prints is similar to the way other
graphic programs do, so you can copy the printer
settings from these programs' boot disks.
After adjusting the printer settings, select the Print
menu-item from the File menu. The Print Requester will
then appear. Press the "Print" gadget and the document
will be printed.
