Okay..... so I recently installed a couple of Amiga OS 3.3.2 installs
on a few classic miggies and one of them was an A600 with Indivision
ECS.

Even with an 030 and 64MB RAM and with every system optimiser (Picasso
96 + Native driver, MMULibs etc etc) I found that the sweet spot for
speed vs resolution is the SuperPlus monitor driver, 800 x 600 x 8
colours - going to 16 colours really is too much for ECS even with an
030.

Well, there is a nice collection of MagicWB icons on Aminet and quite
a few packs of MagicWB backdrops and patterns..... but they all seem
to be 640x512.... and most are pretty awful to be honest.

So, I had no choice but to create my own. I lot of trial and error
(many images you THINK will remap to the 8 colour MagicWB palette
well, turn out to look terrible) and many hours later... Still, I
managed to create 10 images that turned out pretty nice, well I think
so anywayz.

In any event, I uploaded the pack to Aminet in case they can be of use
to anyone else. I have already been asked to create more which I am
wiling to do if there is sufficient demand.

Anywho, the pack contains 10 ILBM IFF images (for fastest display) in
800 x 600 resooution using the standard 8 colour MagicWB palette. They
look good on the Workbench desktop and do not obscure your desktop
icons or icon labels (another requirement of mine).

All images were freely available public domain images that I scaled,
cropped, colour reduced, palette shifted and edited to get the final
result.

Iam presently using "Watch In Sand" and when paired with something
like the Stone Brown pattern from the original MagicWB distribution
looks rather fetching for only 8 colours.

Oh, if you do find any of these backdrops useful, please drop me an
email to let me know.

Kind regards,
